Foursquare Introduces New Tools for Businesses - Bits Blog:

I remember when Fred Willson first blogged about USV’s investment in Foursquare; I had one big complaint against the service then, where is the data!? It may have taken Foursquare a couple months but the data is now beginning to flow on both sides of the check-in. As a user, I now have a history page that not only shows more specific information about my entire check-in past, but also relevant data of which of my Foursquare friends I checked-in with. My birthday dinner at The Breslin now jumps out at me as I scroll down a list of 253 days and 796 check-ins because I instantly see who checked-in with me.

This linked story describes the future data revealing features for the “location” of the check-in. Giving restaurants, bars, museums, and anyone else wise enough to take advantage of this stream of customers power to better understand its users is an amazing step and one that will definitely convert many locations to become pro-Foursquare. Locations that appreciate and use Foursquare are more likely to offer check-in specials and promote Foursquare in their establishments, thus broadening the Foursquare user group even wider.

Foursquare is beating out its rivals not only in servicing its users, but also in empowering the locations themselves.

The United States spends more on medical care per person than any country, yet life expectancy is shorter than in most other developed nations and many developing ones.

Click through to see a graph charting nation’s spending vs. life expectancy. I don’t know what the perfect answer is but this definitely shows that the system is failing and must be altered.
