I set this up yesterday on my iPhone and absolutely love it.  You can have up to five calendars synced to the device and I happen to have five different calendars I linked to my main gmail – Life, 8 Plus, M & I’s linked calendar, Holidays, and Weather.  It is amazing to have all those with push updates all now on my iPhone.  The one hiccup was in contact management, you are not allowed to have two contacts with the same email.  So if on my phone I had my mother as “Mom” with her number and email address, but had her google contact as “Suzy Realname” with her email, it didn’t sync the “Mom” contact.  But easily handled on the handful of contacts that applies to.
