The Tailor

Being the naïve and ambitious crew we are, we felt like an inexpensive suit is always a good suit and that we had to at least give it a shot.  Phuket has an unexpected number tailors, all doing probably par to sub par work for a very inexpensive price.  Not the place I would get my next business attire wardrobe, but I’ll get something I won’t mind being awful and just hope for the best.

In the end I opted for a powder blue linen sports coat, they took the measurements and off we went into tailor land.  It was a nice experience going through different fittings, and trying to get the cheap fabric to hang as nicely as possible, but as to be expected it wasn’t quite something I would probably get if I walked into a typical suit outlet back in NY.  All in all take this as a warning, don’t go expecting too much and please do not pay too much, but if you have a calling for a suit or jacket that you might not pull the trigger on elsewhere, Phuket may be the place.
