Where the heck is Etters?
On October 27, 2002, an article appeared on the front page of the Harrisburg Patriot News entitled “Where the Heck is Etters?” that describes how people live in a place and have listed on their driver’s licenses a place that is not on a map.
Working on local search, you see a lot of weird places. Today’s find was Etters, PA which is actually not a town, but rather the name of the post office in Goldsboro, PA.
Apparently Goldsboro sounded too much like nearby Gouldsboro, and USPS didn’t want people to be confused, so they instead named the post office after the local tavern.
Makes perfect sense.
