Personal branding in the age of Google →
Nothing is, “just in the past” anymore. Everything we touch will be on our permanent record, the threat to a third grader means the same to any job applicant today.  People google people, if you have something to hide…. well, too bad, it’s probably coming out.

iPhone App: Photo Phonebook →
joelaz: This useful, free iPhone app updates your phone’s address book with your friends’ profile pictures from Facebook.  That way, when people call, you see their photo instead of just caller-ID.  It takes just a minute to update hundreds of contacts.  Note: when you get to the screen that shows all the available pictures for import, there’s a check box that says something like “request updated...

Do You Know Who Owns Trader Joe’s? - Freakonomics... →
I do love Trader Joe’s and had no clue about their “behind the curtain” overlords.  I already usually prefer Whole Foods, I love their hot food lunch/dinner options, but this does make me think twice when an equal option is presented.  The Bowery Whole Foods Beer Room growler should be the new Two Buck Chuck.

gary: Dont listen to anyone, listen to everyone Today Gary talks about searching “vaynerchuck”, repsecting others opinions and having conviction in what you believe while being open to other peoples feelings. Stoked to have Gary Vaynerchuck on Tumblr.  I listened to him speak on the streets of New York here for those keeping track.

Does the United States make anything anymore? -... →
“In January, 207,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished in the largest one-month drop since October 1982. Factory activity is hovering at a 28-year low. Even before the recession, plants were hemorrhaging work to foreign competitors with cheap labor. And some companies were moving production overseas.” “The United States by far remains the world’s leading manufacturer by...

SpaceCollective Recent posts →
Cole has talked about SpaceCollective before and I’m usually fascinated at the diversity and creativity of the articles found.  This morning Fred Wilson reblogged a comment here that lead me back to the fascinating site.  This time, I was not just intrigued by the medium, but also the delivery.  The SpaceCollective’s articles swell and shrink dynamically to the users wishes but...

Experiences Of A Newbie iPhone Developer →
Seems every week there is a new story of great reward of a lone iPhone app developer praising the reward of a couple weeks of work turning into marvelous, or at least noteworthy, profit. There is an idea I have that is not at all currently filled in the market today.  I know I would use it, which is usually a good sign of something that would be popular.  The problem is it falls somewhat close to...

Portmanteau - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia →
A portmanteau word is used broadly to mean a blend of two (or more) words, and narrowly in some linguistics fields to mean only a blend of two or more function words. I finally have an official terminology for all of my own majestic portmaneau words – represect, severiously, blambles, grungry, etc…

Now You Can Edit Google Spreadsheets On Androids... →
The slow evolution of editable docs on the iPhone continues.  I use Google Docs for most of my document editing and creation.  I love being able to read a just completed document on the go, but have only been able to read things up till now.  I would never recomend full editing on the iPhone but being able to make quick changes while giving docs a second read would be wonderful.

I set this up yesterday on my iPhone and absolutely love it.  You can have up to five calendars synced to the device and I happen to have five different calendars I linked to my main gmail – Life, 8 Plus, M & I’s linked calendar, Holidays, and Weather.  It is amazing to have all those with push updates all now on my iPhone.  The one hiccup was in contact management, you are not allowed...
